The normal cycle of hair growth lasts for 2 to 3 years. During this phase, each hair grows approximately 1 centimeter per month. About 90% of scalp hair is growing at the same time. About 10% of scalp hair is in a resting phase at the same time. After 3 to 4 months, the hair falls off stage and, instead, begins to grow new hair.
It is normal to drop hair daily as part of this cycle. However, some people may experience an excessive drop (more than normal) hair loss. Hair loss of this type can affect men, women and children.
